Activity Name
Chinese Tradition: Joyful Nurturing of Respect

Activity Objectives
During the school year, the school organised a variety of Chinese cultural experiences for children. These included making and playing with lanterns and tasting mooncakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival, experiencing dragon boat racing and making zongzi during the Dragon Boat Festival, and celebrating the Lunar New Year together with families from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Children also visited a supermarket to learn about different types of food and went to a Chinese restaurant to enjoy dim sum and experience Chinese food culture. For Mother's Day and Father's Day, the school organised a Free Play Day and a Beach Fun Day, where parents and children played with sand and water, built sandcastles, and enjoyed quality time together while learning to appreciate and be grateful to their parents.
Activity Overview
Through stories, handicrafts, everyday life experiences, and free play, children were naturally immersed in Chinese culture with the support of their families and the community, helping to develop a sense of cultural identity. Parent-child interactions also promoted the values of filial piety and respect for family members, contributing to greater cross-cultural understanding in a diverse community. By integrating traditional festivals with parent-child activities, the school helps children connect Chinese culture with their everyday experiences, allowing cultural values to take root in their daily lives.
